Jin Au-Yeung, the first Asian American solo rapper signed with a major record label in the States, has recently released an album in Hong Kong. The album features 11 songs in which Jin raps in Cantonese. The album and the first single are called “ABC”. Obviously Jin is rapping about himself and his background. I have listened to the entire album and find the songs to be really creative. The lyrics are hilarious too.

Like many others, I watched the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics last Friday and thought it was awe-inspiring. I was very proud of the hardworking Chinese and the efforts they had put forth in preparing for the opening ceremony. I really enjoyed watching the fireworks, only to find out yesterday that some of the them were created digitally. Today I found out that the cute little girl (Lin Miaoke) that sang the song, “Ode to the Motherland” was actually lip-syncing to the sound of another girl, 7-year-old Yang Peiyi. The reason for the switch, as explained by the ceremony’s musical director, was that Yang was not as cute as Lin. For an important event like this, they wanted someone who was “flawless in image” and little Lin fit the bill just right. Poor little Yang. She is going to grow up hating herself. She will always remember that she was rejected by the government for her looks.

Not everyone detests Paris Hilton. Apparently, bitch has many fans in Asian countries like Japan and Korea. This is why Japanese actress/singer Aya Ueto is going to play a character inspired by that talentless skank in a romantic comedy titled “Celeb to Daihinmin”. The drama series is produced by Fuji TV and it also co-stars a relatively new actor, Yusuke Kamiji. The plot revolves around Alice Hirata (played by Ueto), the spoiled and naive daughter of a wealthy hotel magnate. Kamiji plays an impoverished widower raising three children. Despite their very different backgrounds, romance is born between these two characters.

Today is my girl Faye Wong‘s birthday. Today also marks the opening of the XXIX Summer Olympics in Beijing. 8-8-08 is the most auspicious day in the Chinese calendar. Why? The number 8 sounds like the pronunciation for “Prosperity” in Mandarin or Cantonese. A lot of Chinese are getting married today. I am not surprised if many expecting Chinese moms are in the labor ward trying to push their babies out today, before the clock strikes twelve. I bet you can also spot a lot of Chinese in the casinos today, because gambling on Aug 8 will guarantee a sure win, for the owners of the casinos that is. I am going to get myself some Mega Millions lottery tickets after work today. Happy 08-08-08!

Oh no!!! For months I have been looking forward to the ever so talented and classy Asian diva Faye Wong to come out of her retirement and release some kickass album but now it will never happen since my girl is rumored to have been sperminated knocked up once again. Faye already has two girls. She and her husband Li Yapeng want them to have a little baby brother so they are giving it another shot.

The 2008 Mr. Hong Kong Pageant was held in Hong Kong this past Saturday. The title went to 23-year old Michael Tsu who is actually from the States (seriously, Hong Kong has run out of good looking guys). The event was hosted by veteran host Do Do Cheng, singer Miriam Yeung and actress Anna Yau. 12 men strutted their stuff infront of a sea of screaming cougars. These ladies must have mistaken this as The Chippendales show. They just couldn’t hide their excitement (08-03-08_Mr_Hong_Kong_3.JPG, 08-03-08_Mr_Hong_Kong_4.JPG). One even went as far as checking out the winner’s package (08-03-08_Mr_Hong_Kong_5.JPG). I don’t blame her. I would too if I was this close to him. Too bad they didn’t allow men to be in the audience. Otherwise I, along with the entire gay population of Hong Kong, would be there. TVB actress Christine Ng was among the screaming fans in the audience and joked that she brought along her own oxygen supply this year in case of emergency.

Back in May, some over-the-hill and shriveled up actress opened her big mouth and told the press that the earthquake in China was karma for China’s treatment of Tibet. A lot of people were offended by her comment. Some vowed to boycott her movies. Others burned their “Basic Instinct” posters and dvds. Me? I dropped her a fan letter.

This is 5-day old news but I don’t care. I feel like picking on someone tonight and since crazy ass Tila Tequila has been keeping a low profile lately (perhaps due to her much embarrassing rejection in the season finale of her reality show), I am shifting my focus on the crazy of all crazies. I am talking about the glamorous role model of all Asian freakshows beauties Bai Ling. As usual, our hot celeb here showed up at some movie premiere that had nothing to do with her. Scantily dressed, she walked down the red carpet and accidentally dropped something (perhaps her dildo). When she bent down to pick it up, one of her girls slipped out.

Not sure how many of you grew up watching Nickelodeon’s cable series called ”The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo” but the actress that played Shelby Woo (Irene Ng) just got married this past weekend on Shelter Island. Irene and I go way back. We knew each other since we were nine years old which was ten years ago.... not! Anyway, I was invited to her wedding and was probably the first one to rsvp. Irene also asked me to give a speech and a toast at her wedding and I thought she was just teasing me. See, people around me usually ask me to shut the eff up. No one trusts me enough to let me speak at their weddings. This says a lot about Irene.

A lot of famous people attended Hong Kong’s power acting couple Tony Leung and Carina Lau‘s wedding in Bhutan earlier this week. Carina’s best friend, Faye Wong was there as well. Though retired, my girl still travels like a rock star. She took an entourage of six people with her to Bhutan. It consisted of her husband (Chinese actor Li Yapeng), her two daughters (an infant and an early teen), her mother-in-law, her assistant and her manager Katie Chan (she used to manage huge stars like the late Leslie Cheung). Anyway, the whole family arrived in Bangkok yesterday on their way back to Beijing and as usual the crazed HK paparazzi were already waiting at the airport with their cameras ready. Their target - Faye’s one year old daughter, Li Yan. Little Li Yan was born with a cleft lip but underwent a successful corrective surgery last year. The public has never seen a picture of Li Yan before so naturally these paparazzi were hungry for her pictures like a pack of wolves waiting for a lamb to pass by.
