Today is my girl Faye Wong‘s
birthday. Today also marks the opening of the XXIX Summer Olympics in
Beijing. 8-8-08 is the most auspicious day in the Chinese calendar.
Why? The number 8 sounds like the pronunciation for “Prosperity” in
Mandarin or Cantonese. A lot of Chinese are getting married today. I am
not surprised if many expecting Chinese moms are in the labor ward
trying to push their babies out today, before the clock strikes twelve.
I bet you can also spot a lot of Chinese in the casinos today, because
gambling on Aug 8 will guarantee a sure win, for the owners of the
casinos that is. I am going to get myself some Mega Millions lottery
