Master's Sun Episode 4: The Vain Ghost and the Little Sun

The fourth episode of Master's Sun begins with Joo Joong Won (So Ji Sub) and Tae Gong Sil (Gong Hyo Jin) lying in bed together, hand in hand. How did they get there? [SPOILER ALERT]

Apparently, when Gong Sil gets drunk, she is easily possessed by ghosts, which was how she ended up meeting Joong Won as Hee Joo, so he let her into his house. Little did he know that Gong Sil doesn't just get possessed by one ghost but many, one after another, and even the ghost of a dog. The only way she would be quiet was if he was touching her, so he let her hold his hand to sleep. Since he now realizes she can possibly help him find the 10 billion won he lost for his ransom from the kidnapping incident by getting in contact with Hee Joo's ghost, Joong Won decides to keep Gong Sil close to him as his ghost "radar". We meet young Joong Won (Infinite's Kim Myung Soo) again when Joong Won's secretary tells Gong Sil about what happened. While at work at Kingdom, Gong Sil meets another ghost when she bumps into her old classmate, Tae Yi Ryeong (Kim Yoo Ri), who was the less popular "sun" (Tae yang) back in high sghool and came to find Gong Sil to gloat about how she is the famous one now. Tae Yi Ryeong has a ghost hanging around her continually telling her she needs to become even prettier, so she goes crazy by trying to wear outrageous outfits with even wilder hairstyles, but the ghost eventually leaves her after Gong Sil warns her about the voices she is hearing. Meanwhile, security guard Kang Woo (Seo In Guk) is seen secretly giving information about Tae Gong Sil and Joo Joong Won to his father. At the end of the episode, Joong Won gets angry at Gong Sil when he catches her lying to him to make him feel better, but after she leaves, Joong Won hears from his secretary about a giant car accident with a high death count that occurred near the building. Out of concern for her fear of the ghosts she will encounter from that accident, Joong Won chases after Gong Sil, and the episode ends with him giving her a hug.

Looks like things are starting to happen between Joo Joong Won and Tae Gong Sil! I really loved this episode, since it started out hilarious and ended really dramatically. However, after watching this episode, I can't help but notice a connection between the main characters of this drama to the main characters of another Hong sister's drama, The Greatest Love, both starring Gong Hyo Jin. I really loved that drama as well, which might be why I love this one so much. Both of Gong Hyo Jin's characters in these dramas have a silly personality and are in a pitiful situation, and then the cold, indifferent lead male character comes in and falls in love with her because of that. I noticed very similar mannerisms between Joo Joong Won and Dokko Jin, such as the finger waving, the way they speak, and the way they treat Gong Hyo Jin's characters. Of course, the storylines are both unique and in no way similar, but perhaps the biggest selling point is this kind of lead couple.

In the next episode, I hope to see where Joo Joong Won will be installing his "radar" and perhaps some kind of dramatic transformation in appearance of the female lead like in pretty much all dramas1!
