After dating for what must have seemed like a million years, Tony Leung and Carina Lau are finally getting married this year. Both have repeatedly admitted to the possibility of a marriage when asked by the paparazzi at several public events this year. Rumor has it that these two love birds will officially announce their engagement at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival in May. Why Cannes!? Why not at the recently held Hong Kong Film Awards? After all, won’t they find a broader audience at the latter event to congratulate them on their engagement, since they are more well known in Hong Kong than France?
Actually what surprises me is that they plan to get married. Long has been the rumor that Tony likes boys and Carina likes girls and this relationship is just a coverup. In other words, Carina is Tony’s beard and Tony is Carina’s ...hmm… purse?. When I was in Taipei last year, a friend told me that (yup.. one of those hearsays but there must be an ounce of truth in it!) his male friend who is a photographer slept with Tony when he was shooting a film there. Apparently Tony asked him to go to his hotel room to review some shots of the film and ended up attacking him. This sounds like the kind of gay porn that is right up my alley. Carina is also rumored to have been with a number of Asian female stars. Frankly I could not be bothered with whom she has slept with since I am not the least bit interested in Female to Female action. Well, I think it’s great that these two acting legends want to take their relationship a step forward and I wish them all the happiness in the straight, bisexual, gay, lesbian, try-sexual and asexual world!
Entertainmenti think its less than that. haha i just know they’ve been together for awhile. i wonder what changed for them to want to get married now
the article says 19 years. and carina was planing a wedding for 2 years now since her father’s death
“19 years! wow they’re so old. i’m surprised they’re not married already. what held them back”
Well.. maybe their sexual orientation got in the way? Ha ha

what?! do you really think they are gay? and that this is just a coverup?
Are Asians in Asia more conservative about homosexuality? I read stories in the NYTimes where there’s somewhat of a liberation movement. But since these celebs seem to think that it’s best to cover it up, I’m wondering what the current reality is.
its funny, asians seem homophobic but yet i see a lot of japanese men and women (includes kids) hold the hands of the same sex. supposedly its in a “friendly” way
I think in general, there’s more openness to homosexuality in Asia then here in the States. Well that’s been my experienced. Asian families still have a hard time dealing with it, but if it’s not family they won’t care as much.
