This is the movie based on the videogame, which initially cast Jessica Beal to play Chun Li, and is now played by hapa Kristin Kreuk. I was super pissed when they initially cast Jessica Beal, and I’m still not too happy with Kreuk as the choice. What’s wrong with a full Asian actress to play the character of Chun Li, a full Chinese character?

The thing that bothers me about Kreuk is she denies and like rejects her Asian side in interviews, kind of like Keanu Reeves and Dean Cain.
Can she even do martial arts? Isn’t there a surplus of Asian actresses that can do martial arts? I can’t believe Jessica Biel was initially casted and also that Jessica thinks she can play a character called Chung Li. It sucks that even Asian roles are given to non-Asians.

Dean Cain became famous playing Clark Kent/Superman in a show called “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” back in the early 90s. The show also co-starred Teri Hatcher (now on “Desperate Housewives") as Lois Lane…

Dean Cain cared enough about his Asian side to change his name from Dean Tanaka to Dean Cain.
well he probably changed it because he didn’t think he would make it big with an asian name. then again i dont know how the entertainment business works so yeah
that’s usually the case isn’t it? like with madonna. in time though, things will change
I hope this movie is good. The original Street Fighter was ok. I wasn’t impressed much. I too would prefer that an Asian female who is a martial artist play Chung Li. It would make it more believable. Will Kreuk’s stunt double be glued to her like some growth to make it “appear” that she is some martial arts expert? Will they be able to pull it off well? I don’t know about this one.
Yeah the old street fighter was crap. Zhang Ziyi would have been the better choice if she spoke english Haha Or Michelle Yeoh if she was younger. I mean I love Kruek shes hot but she doesn’t seem right
