New York – 06/03/08 - Ningin.com and the AAFilmLab to Form Media Partnership for the Fifth Annual 72-Hour Shootout Short Film Competition.
Ningin.com and The Asian American Film Lab (AAFilmLab) announced today the beginning of a media partnership to offer streaming videos of all the entries in the Fifth Annual 72 Hour Shootout. The Shootout, which takes place on June 20-23, is a nationwide competition where filmmaking teams are given a common theme at the start and have 72 hours to write, shoot, edit, and complete short films up to five minutes in length.
This exclusive partnership will create a special AAFilmLab branded micro-site operated in collaboration with the Ningin staff and the AAFilmLab leadership that will launch on June 16th.
The partnership reflects Ningin’s commitment to promoting all things related to Asian media, especially the works of independent Asian and Asian American filmmakers, by making compelling content easily accessible via its social application technologies and by exposing new audiences to these original talents.
For the first time, all Ningin users and guests of Ningin will be able to participate in the public beta testing of its high-definition video streaming technology.
The partnership, which will build over time, comprises three elements:
- Technology: Ningin will provide hosting and streaming of current and past entries as well as interactive discussion. Users will be able to comment on the shorts, rate them, and recommend them to friends.
- Audience Favorite Award: Ningin will provide a voting system to determine popularity of this year’s entries.
- iPhone Prize: The winner of the Audience Favorite Award will receive a special Ningin branded iPhone embedded with the top ten videos from the competition. (Award does not include phone activation or service provider.)
