Took long enough to get here but we’re down to the bottom three. This week had two challenges that revolved around the 80’s; not nearly as fun or exciting as last season’s hip hop history challenge. I thought this challenge was completely rigged for Fanny Pak but after seeing the episode I guess it’s no surprise.

All three crews performed their first routine to the “groove step” challenge. Keep in mind they only had a week to prepare both routines.

Super Crew was first up and they used the humpty dance. Their physical feat was to perform the dance with only four feet on the floor. They defy gravity all the time so I don’t see it to be that hard. Well anyways, they performed and it wasn’t that great especially after last week’s performance. There were a few cool tricks here and there but other than that, I was praying their second routine wouldn’t be as dull. Judges loved it though.

Next up is So Real using the kid and play and they had to have a chain reaction. Again it was boring but something they did reminded me of Kaba Modern during the “hip hop history” episode – they lip singed. If you don’t remember, last season Kaba Modern imitated the pop boy group N’Sync and lip singed the “Bye Bye Bye” single during their performance. It was probably the highlight and the only memorable moment of the routine. They also looked like they were really into their routine. Judges saw that they had fun but expected more energy and just...more.

Last up is Fanny Pak. This is their area of expertise so I expected a lot from them. They did pick a good move, the Vanilla Ice but they had to perform it horizontally. I thought this should be interesting since they are one of the most creative crews. They did pull it off and routine was better than the other two crews. Glenda also managed to pull off some bboying which was kind of cool. They shout out to their moms at the end was really cheesy and completely threw me off. But again the hudges gave them their support. Go figure.

Finally the bottom two are announced and they are Super Crew and Fanny Pak. Congrats to So Real for never reaching the bottom. Let’s hope you don’t pull a New England Patriots and lose at the last round. For some reason though when they were announced the most voted crew, they looked so angry. Were they disappointed?

Side note, MTV Dance does a weekly best dancer based on videos submitted to the MTV website and this week went out to a Korean bboy crew called Expression Dance Crew. Dae Han Mi Gook!

Well now on to the second challenge, 80’s movie.

So Real was given the movie Breakin. They used two props: a big mirror and brooms to imitate the movie. While I love the use of props, their routine didn’t scream omfg awesome. It was better than their first routine but let’s hope it’s enough for next week. Judges loved their routine and said they proved that they deserved to be on the top.

Super Crew, third time in the bottom, was due up with the famous Footloose movie. Whoever puts them in bottom must have the utmost confidence in them because each time Super Crew has made it through. Again this routine was better and had some cool tricks but again I don’t hear an omfg awesome. Chris Styles from Jabbawockeez was there however supporting the crew.

Fanny Pak is the last to perform again and they were given Flashdance. While I did expect them to lose against Super Crew, they actually did really well and it had think they would make it to the finale. Like always, their routine was theatrical and creative. Also, it was funny as hell and I couldn’t get over the JC impersonation. Seriously who still wears bow ties?

Judges loved both crews and agreed they were both creative, athletic and had technique. JC went as far as saying So Real didn’t out dance either of these crews but Lil’ Mama had to put her two cents in and said she disagreed. I love So Real but I have to side with JC on this one. He also said that this was the most difficult judging they’ve had to do. Uh, do you not remember last season’s Jabbawockeez and Kaba Modern? Hands down that was the most difficult decision, especially since Status Quo did horrible. Well anyways, the crew to go home was Fanny Pak. As unfortunate as it is, I didn’t expect them to win anyways.

Next week will be a show down between the two crews; however, it won’t be the finale. The live finale will premiere on August 21 and it’s when they’ll crown America’s Best Dance Crew.
