With the summer heat getting hotter and hotter (thank you global warming), everyone needs to cool down with a fan. However in Korea, it’s not quite as simple.

In South Korea, there’s an urban legend that says if an electric fan is left running overnight in a closed room, the people inside the room will die via suffocation, poisoning or hypothermia. So if you’re lucky enough to be in Korea during the summer with one of their crappy fans, you’ll notice that they shut off every few hours or have a timer on them. Some fans even require you to wind them up. Aren’t air conditioners wonderful?

I work here.

They really shut off every now and then? That’s so stupid…

some expats made a fan death video. it’s pretty funny.....

edit!
here’s the video:

lol

LET’S DO THE FORK IN THE GARBAGE DISPOSAL! LET’S DO THE FORK IN THE GARBAGE DISPOSAL! DING DING DING DA-DING DING DING DING DING!

Hahaha This is so stupid. <3

There are some weirder superstitions out there though.

Baseball has some weird superstitions. haha

Really like what? Haha Because these are really weird.

Um Yankees, if the pitcher is having a no-hit game (really hard to get) none of the players talk to the pitcher.

R u serious??!!

If you’re referring to me, than yes.

You gotta love these Korean superstitions!  My mother is even more paranoid about the fan death thing.  I have curtains covering my windows, but my windows are opened . . . she still thinks I’ll die with the fan on like that!

“I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.”—Groucho Marx

“I can’t listen to that much Wagner. I start getting the urge to conquer Poland.”—Woody Allen

When I first saw the name I thought it would be about some crazy fangirl trying to kill her idol. Silly me.
