Eating out the Korean Way: Bulgogi

@Lan & Hoc—*virtually sends some* And Lan, what do you mean when I’m in NY next time?  I thought you were in NY.

@Sakura—Bulgogi can be cooked on a grill like BBQ.  However, the type of Bulgogi we had was more soupy than grilly!

@MingMinHui—Yeah the formalities are insane at times.  Good thing we went during noon to eat instead of at night!  Otherwise, soju drinking would have occurred, mwahaha!

@HONey—It can be expensive.  Like my aunt paid about . . . 70 bucks on everything—or more.  I can’t remember the exact price, but it certainly was more expensive than I would have wanted to forked over.  At some restaurants here, you can get a small Bulgogi bowl for $5 - $7, but for a meal like this, expect to pay a lot—unless you split with your friends. ^_^

Well Tara is really lucky. Unsurprisingly even the more modest restaurants in Korea have better food than the somewhat more pricier joints over here. My mother always complains about it and I agree with her.

Yum, Tara! I’ll never forget my first time eating at a traditional Korean restaurant with my then-roommate from Korea. I love bulgogi, and I call my half-Korean son “bulgogi” because he’s, well, big and beefy

lol Elena, that’s so adorable!

Thanks, Jekki! I just watched a video on YouTube of Sung Kang (my favorite!!) talking at his restaurant. He pronounced bulgogi “bur-go-gi.” How have you all heard it said?

Uhhh I just say it like it’s spelled Booool - gohhhh - geeeee XD XD XD

Sorry @_@ Beef only

LOL darn, so my Korean friend told the truth! lol I was just trying to make sure since this website is of a larger database. Oh well I guess I gotta die without having it cause beef will not touch these lips :P

They have pork bulgogi, and I’m sure if you can replace the beef with chicken.  It shouldn’t be THAT hard.  I dunno if it’d taste the same.

I probably can, but I know my Korean friend said the same as you, that it wouldn’t taste the same. Aw man! Those dishes need to washed in the kitchen!

Elena, Don’t call your son a bulgogi… LOL
There is a bad joke about bulgogi in Korea…
I think it’s something not appropriate to put on this site
So I don’t think your son would like it either… =P

? I want to know what it is.
