Lee Hyori - plagiarizing Candy Man, entire album out!

Lee Hyori is walking the fine line of plagiarism with her new MV for “U Go Girl.” There are 2-3 scenes in the MV that have a striking resemblance with Christina Aguilera’s hit song “Candy Man” and netizens are crying foul.

Wow they really do both look alike.

Korea always bites off of America.

Well it’s not like it’s exactly the same.

Kinda is? I mean look at it. Same concept.

It’s like she’s trying to copy Christina’s comeback.

Christina’s comeback was really strong. Hyori’s music isn’t that great.

Yeah Christina was actually old school and really deep.

Too bad she got pregnant and had to stop making music.

Too bad she got pregnant and had to stop making music.

you say it like she pulled a Jamie Lynn. Christina actually got married FIRST and....wait for it

planned her pregnancy. So I don’t see how that makes it a “too bad”.

as for Miss Hyori. *sigh* I think back in the day, when Korean Pop Culture wasn’t as globally known, companies copied US artists all the time and got away with it because either the Korean fans didn’t know where the concept came from(or care) or the American fans just didn’t know that Korea had their own “versions” of it, I mean when BoA started out, her company made her an exact rip off of Britney Spear’s concept. everything was the same, not similar, but the same, down to photo shoots and outfits. Luckily, BoA’s team has developed her into something totally her own, which imo has her at “icon” status. anywho, back to my point: now that K-pop is becoming globally known, companies can’t fly under the radar with blatantly copying extremely well known artists from the US, or even Europe anymore. Now, this is certainly not the first time Hyori has been accused of jacking some American artists and/or concept, and you’d think that she(or her company or whoever) would realize that they aren’t in the bubble of obscurity anymore, and they have to actually be “creative” and come up with somewhat original concepts for things.

with that being said, I still think I’ll try out her new music.

OT:
I wonder what it takes to become an “American Pop Culture and Fashion Consultant” in Korea...(yes I made up that title, so =P )
I think I can help them with coming up with ideas that aren’t--"used" and save a couple of the artists from embarrassment. >__<

LET’S DO THE FORK IN THE GARBAGE DISPOSAL! LET’S DO THE FORK IN THE GARBAGE DISPOSAL! DING DING DING DA-DING DING DING DING DING!

They definitely need some new stylist in Korea. Especially for the guys. ><

I always knew Korea bit off of America. It’s really sad. Like they can’t be original at all.

But about Christina, I didn’t mean it negatively. I know she got married. She’s one of my favorite artists. :D I’m just sad that now she can’t make music or probably won’t for awhile since she has a baby.
