Chinese athletics hero Liu Xiang has apologised to his fans for pulling out of the Olympics with an “unbearable” foot injury, while vowing to rise again.

Why did he wait till the last minute?

His foot was hurting really badly so he didn’t want to risk it.

It looks really bad on him that he dropped out so late. He’s China’s only hope of getting medals in Track and Field.

Well he tried to push himself but he can only go so far.

Too bad for China. They had high hopes.

They can maybe win some. If they don’t, hopefully USA doesn’t either. haha

What events are left? It’s almost the end of the 2nd week.

I saw this on NBC and felt so bad for him. Athletes can put up with a lot of pain, so this must have been really bad. Hope another pathway opens up for him.

If anything, I hope he’s okay.

He’ll probably get back on his feet eventually. By the time of the next olympics he should be his prime (28) which is when most hurdlers are.
