Stationmaster cat boosts local economy by ¥1.1 billion



The Wakayama Electric Railway Co. was in serious financial trouble a couple years ago, but their brilliant decision to make a cat named Tama the official stationmaster of Kishi Station has drawn in thousands of visitors from across Japan.

Cats are so hard to take care of. I’m a dog person.

Cats are EASY to take care of. I have a cat and a dog and my dog is just a pain sometimes. I still love her though. My cat is independent and I could leave her home alone for a weekend, unlike my dog.

I think she wants a cat to make money?
