Miyazaki Hates Modern Animation

Ouch.

This is why he’s God. haha

They lack real experience or life and lose their imagination. Animators can only draw from their own experience of pain and shock and emotions.

Can’t say I agree.

To each their own? haha I don’t think I could live without my MP3 player.

I guess he has a point...I don’t really see it then again I’m bias. raspberry

To say he hates it is so strong…

This is the guy who made Spirited Away right?

Yes. haha And also a lot of other movies.

Princess Mononokee was his best.

They were all good tbh. But Howl’s Moving Castle has a slight lead. hehe

I will always prefer the undubbed Miyazaki films to their disney dubbed versions.

It goes without saying that he’s the man, but he can be a staunch traditionalist. For Spirited Away, he modeled Chihiro/Sen after a friend’s daughter, and as he explains it, the film is about a spoiled brat who has to learn how to grow up. I agree that it’s a bildungsroman (coming of age tale), but I honestly didn’t think Chihiro was spoiled… especially when she was trying to get her parents to stop eating (stealing) food.

Anyhow, Miyazaki thinks most Japanese kids, noawadays, are totally spoiled and annoying. He just has a very strong sense of nostalgia (that’s what makes his work so special!), and for anyone that’s like that, the old always trumps the new.

I didn’t think she was spoiled either but more like lonely and didn’t want to move. But then again Japanese culture if very different. ^^

He’s like a typical old man. raspberry

Someone drank some haterade. :O

When is this going to stop being “news”?!
Miyazaki’s been publicly and vocally anti-CG for years. He tried it and found for his purposes it was overpriced and crap-for-his-buck. People write him off as a cranky old man, but then why do his (hand drawn) movies still kick so much ass?
