Smrtdrummer: Uh I think after these last photos, it’s worse. It’s like they’re trying to make things worse.
Even if its not as bad as the states its still racism? Would you like a whole country doing chinky eyes to you?
Doesn’t seem like China is going to do anything.
I saw some articles on the web and some of them were saying that they weren’t much affected by it, because they don’t relate to the racial struggles of the Asian-American. In my opinion their racist portrayal in the photos was against ALL Chinese no matter where they were from. Also many racist people are gonna throw Asians of various backgrounds into one bucket. Because you know guys, if you’re Asian, you gotta be Chinese. For instance, this Filipina girl was discriminated against at her school, because of the photo. She was at a track and field event at her school and the rival team pulled their eyes back at her. I’m sure there were and are more incidents like what happened to her in this country and perhaps abroad.
It’s so sad how ignorant this country is. I feel so sorry for that girl but then again it’s probably something everyone has gone through.
A lot of people are associate the photo with just China itself which is surprising because it’s pretty much direct at all Asians just like you said. It may not be overly racist compared to some things but it doesn’t mean it’s not offensive.
With the fililpina girl, I don’t think whether or not China said something would’ve made a difference in that case. The moral responsibility falls onto the parents and teachers in this country.
Way to add salt to the wound.
