He’s such a cute. What is Soka gakkai? It sounds more like a cult than a religion.

It’s a religion that’s highly political.

Once a hollywood celeb runs to a religion it ceases to be a religion.. it just becomes “the in thing”

Look at christian science and kabballah.. totally cultish stuff that celebs do to fill their over priveledged lives.

Now I see celebs running to soka gakkai and it being the new hot thing.. I hope they make room for paris hilton!

The article in the Japan Times is highly biased and based on much misinformation. Unfortunately, the Japanese media has very loose libel laws - $1k fine, and no penalty to newspaper or content creator when found in a court of law of Japan to be falsifying information or facts.

In the 1970’s, there was a movement among many of the tabloid news weeklies of falsly printing much misinformation about the Soka Gakkai (and many other prominent people in life), and unfortunately, much of it was eventually taken up mainstream media as fact without stringent verification, including the Japan Times. A lie when uncontested, becomes fact over time.

If you took a look at the typical Japanese weekly magazine or newsletter, it is filled with completely ridiculous stories of UFO, scandals, and amazing medical sciences that have never been reported anywhere else.

As a student of the critical media, this is when the abuses of public media run rampant and unchecked.
